Online Course “English Communication through Transnational Online Projects”

Join the online course offered by the language centres of Oulu University and Ruhr University Bochum in the winter semester 2025/26!

If you would like to:

practise communication skills in English in multinational and multilingual teams formed by students from UNIC member universities
improve your teamwork skills collaborating in a transnational project
develop your entrepreneurial mindset, that is awareness of opportunities, focusing on problems, designing solutions, describing and presenting products
increase your competence in using digital technologies for online collaboration

Course aims and contents:

The aim of the course is to enhance and activate students' skills in all modes of communication, that is, reception, production, interaction and mediation. In addition to oral discussion and presentation activities, students write short texts, such as meeting minutes and presentation slides. The assessment involves among others preparing and delivering a video pitch in English according to the given instructions.

Course mode and recognition:

The course is offered exclusively online and consists of independent study activities and a self-directed collaborative project carried out in teams. A kick-off meeting for all multinational teams is in 42nd calendar week in the afternoon (time and Zoom link tbc). Upon successful completion you will obtain 3CP or 5 CP and a certificate of participation. If completed with 5 CPs and a grade, the course is recognised in Optionalbereich (tbc).

Target audience:

Students of all faculties and degree programmes from University of Oulu, Ruhr University Bochum and other UNIC members.
