The European Universities Initiative aims to reshape higher education by fostering deeper integration in education, research, and collaboration across Europe. UNIC Capacity Building Centre is one of the three main components of the alliance, driving collaboration and innovation within UNIC.
The Centre is a central hub for capacity development, providing resources, tools, and networking opportunities to empower individuals within the UNIC community. By aligning diverse approaches and promoting innovative practices, it supports the creation of a unified European University. The Centre's focus on structural and social change enhances educational innovation, impact, and inclusion.
Through its collaborative efforts, the Centre addresses the evolving needs of partner institutions, facilitating the necessary changes in mobility formats, partnerships, and technological tools. It empowers individuals to actively participate in the transformation process, fostering a shared sense of belonging and a commitment to the future of European higher education and being a specialists’ voice.
• Strengthen established connections among 10 partners at all organizational levels, ensuring UNIC is integrated throughout the alliance and evolves as a central collaborative structure.
• Adjust an IT infrastructure that links ten universities, creating a unified information system.
• Deepen involvement in social inclusion within university life across UNIC and all partner institutions.
• Enhance the co-operative capacities of professional units across the consortium, including in particular the offices responsible for Diversity and Inclusion.
• Support harmonisation of local regulatory frames for joint UNIC cooperation.
The Capacity Building Centre brings together several Expert Groups, which are focused on Research Services, International Offices, Diversity and inclusion offices, IT Services, Promotion and Communication, Language Centres and Structural Issues.
Expert Groups, consist of specialists in various fields, play a crucial role in shaping the Capacity Building Centre and supporting the UNIC community's goals. By leveraging their expertise, these groups contribute to the development of valuable outcomes and foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and progress. The Capacity Building Centre is committed to creating additional expert groups to connect specialists across a wide range of areas, facilitating the formation of dedicated units focused on specific topics of interest.
The Centre provides space to make support documents and guidelines available, offers trainings for academic and administrative staff, and facilitates faster contact and targeted individual searches via the UNIC Virtual Campus.The Centre's deliverables include an integrated UNIC Hybrid Campus by 2027 and a UNIC Plurilingualism Policy by 30 September 2025.
