Despite many efforts for more diversity in society, there are significant differences in how diversity is dealt with in companies, organisations and public administration. Racism and discrimination in the workplace are not a marginal phenomenon - because many people experience it every day.
With the UNIC CityLab "Diversity & Racism" at Ruhr University Bochum, we would like to discuss the issue in a panel discussion with, among others, Prof. Dr. Karim Fereidooni (Professor for Didactics of Social Science Education at the Ruhr University) and Norbert Koop (Head of Music School Bochum). There will be workshop discussions with the topics
- (White) Privileges - How Can They Be Made Visible?
- Safer Spaces for People Experiencing Racism
- Anti-discrimination Policy in Institutions (guidelines, counselling and more)
Opportunities to network will highlight ways in which companies, organisations and associations can work against racism.
Participants include representatives of the Amnesty International University Group, the Ruhr University and the City of Bochum, as well as Bochum businesses, organisations and associations.
The event will be moderated by Dr. Asmaa El Idrissi.
The CityLab will take place at Ruhr University Bochum and will be held in German.
We are looking forward to a lively exchange.
