Welcome to Malmö! Our Malmö team leverage the power of collaboration locally and across the alliance network for best impact in our City.
We welcome new city and research collaborations in these areas and invite you to connect with us to explore possibilities for developing partnership initiatives. City-Led Challenges that are currently in focus in Malmö are:
Local development: Developing ways of working with local development, based on both local needs and strategical development in socio-economically challenged areas.
Green city: The green city leading climate transformation.
Our CityLabs activities provide opportunities for diverse groups to connect and co-create. Some of the things we have worked on include:
Re-imaginatorium: The Re-Imaginatorium invites researchers, teachers, students, citizens, and other actors to re-imagine our cities/societies, e.g., how we live, our institutions, our professional roles, how we organize ourselves or collaborate, our worldviews, or how we understand, change, and produce value to our societies. The re-imagining process is a kind of futures thinking, but with focus on considering alternative futures and building resilience.
Re-Imaginatorium has been piloted in various settings. It’s been done both in online settings and on site with stakeholders from different sectors. Examples of created scenarios include: what if there was a parliament of water? (Rotterdam city, UCC, MAU, Oulu university and EUR onsite), what if there was a university of health? (UNIC student board onsite / WP3 training session online), and what if the city of Malmö was a co-created city in 2040? (multiple stakeholders in the city of Malmö onsite)
Co-create Malmö: A recurring learning network for co-creation. Co-owned by Center for City Futures, The Change Academy, STPLN, Media Evolution City, Malmö Ideella and Companion Skåne. The network meets minimum 4 times per year with 30-100 participants each time. Topics of the events are based on city challenges, e.g. the above mentioned challenges.
