The aim of the session was to present inspiring practices related to the reception of Ukrainian refugees implemented locally and at the University of Deusto itself. Specifically from the Office of International Relations of the University of Deusto were presented the processes of organization and implementation of an extraordinary semester for students from Ukraine. This pilot experience is now in its second edition.

The university has collaborated with the administrations and social organizations to facilitate all the necessary assistance to the arrival of new students seeking to continue their studies fleeing the war. The work carried out by the universities was organized around 3 areas of action:

  • Attention to students: Reception of applications and admission (in conjunction with the General Secretariat), Timetables and certificates (credits), Deusto-Ukraine Solidarity Fund, Psychological assistance, Meal vouchers, Participation in extracurricular activities, Personalized assistance.
  • Free academic offer (May-July 2022): Attention to the teaching staff, Materials and photocopies, Consultation of each student's situation, Schedules and exams, Personalized attention.
  • Host families: Communications and meetings, Dissemination of training courses EllacurĂ­a-Loturak Foundation, University Hall of Residence/My Campus Residence, Personalized attention.
