UNIC Generations’ Lab Course: Collaborative Virtual Team Work

The course was based on the design thinking methodology that provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. During the course, participants worked on solving real-life challenges in heterogeneous groups consisting of 30 participants from all UNIC partner universities. During the course, students were divided into 7 groups, each working on a different case study, provided by UNIC partners and under UNIC CityLabs themes. Throughout the course, students were working closely with their case representatives in solving their cases and coming up with their final solutions. During the virtual phase (Seminars 1-5) students were introduced to their case, team, and course methodology. After Seminar 5 the course continued with the physical phase at the University of Oulu. At the end of the course, students had the opportunity to present their solutions at the Future Fest Event and attend the UNIC CityLabs Festival. Overall, the Blended Intensive Program proved to be successful in bringing together a diverse group of students from different cultural and academic backgrounds to work together and develop something tangible.
