UNIC enables students to complete one or two semesters at another UNIC university. Mobility takes place either through regular Erasmus agreements or via the UNIC Multilateral agreement. To explore exchange opportunities, course offerings, application requirements, and deadlines, please visit the exchange page of your host and home universities below:
Internships are usually short‑term work placements, typically lasting from a few weeks to several months, that provide students or recent graduates with practical experience in a professional setting. They offer opportunities to apply academic or theoretical knowledge in real‑world contexts, develop industry‑relevant skills, and explore potential career directions. Many internships also include mentorship and support from experienced professionals.
You can check the current internship announcements and/or contact your local UNIC team to inquire about tailored internship opportunities that fit your interests and focus areas. Once you have secured an internship placement, you can apply for Erasmus+ internship funding through your local International Office.
For guidance throughout the process, consult the UNIC Internship Guidelines for Students.
The UNIC network offers numerous opportunities for students to gain international research experience during their studies. In particular, the close cooperation with UNIC cities provides a wide range of possibilities for connecting final theses to topics and challenges faced by post‑industrial cities.
UNIC teams are available to support you by helping to establish contacts with partner universities and UNIC cities. Longer research stays may also be combined with internships where appropriate, and can be supported through Erasmus+ funding. Internships linked to research can have either a research‑focused or practical focus, depending on your needs.
A virtual exchange is an online learning and collaboration format that connects students from different countries or institutions through structured digital activities, discussions, or joint projects. It is guided by educators and designed to build intercultural understanding and practical skills without requiring physical mobility.
Virtual exchanges allow students to gain international experience in a flexible and accessible way. They help students improve teamwork and communication skills, work with peers from diverse backgrounds, broaden their perspective, and enhance their academic or professional profile—all without the time or financial commitments of travelling abroad.
To find out more about current virtual exchange opportunities, please contact your faculty and/or your local UNIC office. You are also encouraged to ask your teachers to initiate new Virtual exchange collaborations with UNIC partners.
If you are enrolled at one of the UNIC universities, you are eligible to participate in the UNIC Open Online Courses (OOC) – a wide variety of courses from various subject areas, predominantly taught in English and offered fully online. All courses can be ECTS accredited. Before enrollng, please check with your local academic advisor to see if you can make a certain course count towards your degree.
The full catalogue is available through the UNIC Virtual Campus.
To enrol in a course, you must first register on the UNIC Virtual Campus. If you have any questions, please get in contact with your local UNIC office.
