GLocalEAst Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership at UNiZG

The Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project "Developing a new curriculum in Global Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies in EastCentral Europe" was implemented at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with the aim of creating a higher education curriculum in the field of migration, diaspora and border studies in Eastern and Central Europe.

The Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project "Developing a new curriculum in Global Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies in EastCentral Europe" (code: GLocalEAst, 2020-1-SK01-KA203-078263) which lasted from September 2020 to August 2023 had the purpose to create a higher education curriculum in the field of migration, diaspora and border studies in Eastern and Central Europe. The main goals of the project were to implement innovative practice in the field of education and promotion of student specialization to raise awareness of migration phenomena and processes, engage in global analysis of needs and problems concerning socio-political cohesion in Eastern and Central Europe, and connect and network higher education institutions, non-governmental organizations, the business sector of migrant associations and other actors. The coordinator of the project was the Comenius University in Bratislava, along with the University of Bologna, the Viadrina University from Frankfurt am Oder, the University of Kaunas, the University of Belgrade and the University of Zagreb, along with a dozen other project collaborating partner institutions. The central activity of the project was the creation of the master's program syllabus within four thematic areas (Ethnicity and Politics of Identity in East-Central Europe; Borders in Motion in East-Central Europe; Global Migration, Diasporas and Migrant Integration; Geopolitics of migration in East-Central Europe ). The results of the project include reports (GLocalEAst transnational reports on educational and training needs analysis; GlocalEAst Review of the Higher Education programs in Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies; GLocalEAst case studies on actors, processes and practices related to the integration of migrants; Joint Paper Policy Series ), development of new digital learning tools, seminars and webinars, international conferences, summer school and mixed intensive mobility program. The national leader of the project for the Republic of Croatia was the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb, and the project leader was Assoc.
