The book was edited by UNIC colleagues Prof. Stjepan Lakušić (University of Zagreb), Prof. Jurica Pavičić (University of Zagreb), Dr Nebojša Stojčić (University of Zagreb) and Prof. Peter W. A. Scholten (Erasmus University Rotterdam), and Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law (University College Cork).
The origins of the book lie in the UNIC alliance which is also described as the book's 'cradle'. The book in turn features insights and findings from collaboration within the UNIC alliance.
Chapters include 'Post-industrial Transitions in Superdiverse Cities', 'Post-industrial Education Systems: Waiting for Godot', 'Cities, Health and Wellbeing', and many more. "Over the last decades waves of deindustrialization have swept across European countries leaving potential consequences across cities, regions, and countries," the authors write. "Once prosperous and advancing communities have suddenly found themselves in need to search for new development models and ways to secure their social sustainability and urban functioning." Featuring insights and findings from research and experiences across the UNIC alliance, this book is not only beneficial for academic and scholars, but also provides practical guidance to policy makers and practitioners.
