This event featured short, impactful talks from diverse perspectives, addressing the critical challenges and opportunities regarding ecological and social sustainability in its intertwined complexity.

On the ULiège side, Sylvain Boisson, bioengineer and PHD from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, gave a speech entitled ‘The Living City: Integrating Biodiversity into Urban Landscapes’.

It was described as follows:

“We explore how cities could be reimaged inspiring natural habitats to support urban biodiversity and ecosystem services. By drawing inspiration from ecosystems, we will approach the concept of nature-based solutions and green infrastructures that enhance urban resilience, improve quality of life, and create new spaces where biodiversity was no longer expected!”

Sylvain Boisson has more than 10 years’ experience in biodiversity management in anthropized landscapes. Building biodiversity conservation strategies at species and habitats scale. Recently, Co- Founder of VIVUS Nature, a Belgian spin-off of ULiège developing nature in industrial and urban sites.
